VR games that don’t need controllers

Virtual Reality Games are now within everyone’s reach. You can get hooked on this new addition for less than $20. All you need is a decent VR headset and your smartphone and you are ready to explore the Matrix-like simulated world. While there are more expensive headsets with dozens of sensors and controllers, you don’t need all of that to enjoy VR.

Here are a couple of games you can play using just a VR headset and your smartphone. Try them and let us know what you think.

  1. Smash Hit

Smash Hit is considered to be one of the best on-rails type shooter games in VR. It is available on Android, iOS and Oculus stores. Your aim is to smash everything. The key is to gaze with your eyes and use a trigger found on most of the VR headsets to fire chrome marbles into shiny glass objects. The most common word we hear about playing this game is that it is very ‘satisfying’.

  1. VR Pac-Mac

No matter how old it is, Pac-Mac is always amazing and now it is available in VR form. In this game, you get to run around the maze eating pellets and escape from all the ghosts. You have to turn your head to change directions. They also have a small map overlay at the side to give you an idea of what to expect next. This first-person view of Pac-Mac is totally addictive. IF you are a fan of the old Pac-Mac, get this one and be ready for your new addiction.

  1. Snow Strike VR

This is a tower defence type of VR game. You have to uphold your snow fort and throw snowballs at the enemies who are trying to get into your fort. Although you can use a controller to play the game, it is not an absolute requirement. Align yourself in-line with your foes and then shoot. You can also dodge their shots by turning your head. This is a great first-person shooter game without too much violence.

  1. Trooper 2

Since we brought up the idea of the first-person shooter, it is only fair we have at least one such game on our list. Trooper 2 is a great shooter game with minimal controlling. You have to just stand up, walk and shoot using your VR headset trigger. It is also one of the few games that provide a 360-degree view. so you can shoot in all directions.
